About NEENA

Nordic Early Esophageal Neoplasia Association (NEENA) was established on September 19, 2024, in Reykjavik. Our aim is to create a Nordic network for healthcare professionals who are interested in and are working with patients with esophageal neoplasia and early esophageal cancer. We are focusing on education of endoscopists, raising awareness about the disease and to stimulate research efforts across the Nordic region.

Meetings

NEENA organises the annual NEENA-meeting (formerly known as the Nordic Barrett´s Esophaugus & Early Esophageal Cancer Meeting), which serves two main purposes:  educating local endoscopist and providing a forum for experts to meet.

The first meeting was held in Stockholm (2022), followed by Oslo (2023), Reykjavik (2024) and in Gothenburg (2025). It gathers endoscopist from all the Nordic countries and features internationally well renowned speakers.

Education

We offer webinars and are currently developing hands-on courses on diagnostics and treatment of early esophageal neoplasia.

Research

We actively promote research by supporting both single-centre and collaborative studies on early esophageal neoplasia across the Nordic region.
